White-label PHP upgrades for digital agencies

Hand us the upgrade backlog. We take your client sites to PHP 8.5 in your repositories, following your processes and under NDA, so your team stays on billable work and your clients only ever see your agency.

  • Your branding, your client relationship
  • Pull requests in your repos
  • Fixed price per site

The upgrade backlog every agency has

Most agencies look after a long tail of client sites built years ago, on PHP versions that are now end of life. Nobody budgeted for upgrading them, the developers who built them may have moved on, and every hour your team spends on them is an hour not spent on billable new work.

Then a host retires an old PHP version, or PHP 8.2 reaches end of life, and a dozen upgrades land in the same quarter.

How white-label upgrades work

  • Your name, not ours. We don’t contact your clients unless you want us to. Audit reports and documentation can carry your branding.
  • Your repositories, your process. We work in your Git hosting, follow your branching and review rules, and open pull requests your team can review and merge.
  • Under NDA. We sign your NDA before seeing any code, and only access the systems the work needs.
  • Small, reviewable changes. Rector refactoring, dependency upgrades and new tests each arrive as separate commits, never one huge pull request nobody can review.
  • Handover your team can maintain. Upgraded sites come back with CI, a PHPStan baseline and tests, so they don’t rot again.

Start with your client estate

If you have several sites to deal with, the most useful first step is an overview of all of them. Send us the list and we’ll look at each site’s PHP version, framework and dependencies. You get a prioritised plan: what needs upgrading first, what’s quick, what’s risky and what’s probably better retired. That gives you something concrete to take to clients and price.

What we upgrade

Custom PHP applications from PHP 5.6 onwards, plus Laravel, Symfony and WordPress sites, including custom themes, plugins and WooCommerce. See the PHP 7.4 upgrade and PHP 5.6 migration pages for what is involved for each starting version.

Pricing

Each codebase starts with the fixed-price £350 audit, which is credited in full if the upgrade is booked within 30 days. Upgrades are quoted at a fixed price per site once audited, so you can add your margin and quote your client with confidence.

Frequently asked questions

Will you contact our clients?
Not unless you ask us to. We work through you, and anything we write for a client can go out under your agency’s name.
How do you get access to the code?
Usually as a member of your Git hosting (GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket) with access limited to the repositories involved. For the audit, read access is enough.
Can you handle urgent upgrades when a host retires a PHP version?
Yes, where capacity allows. Tell us the deadline when you get in touch. An audit can usually be turned round quickly, and it tells you which sites are at risk.
What frameworks and CMSs do you cover?
Custom PHP from 5.6 onwards, Laravel, Symfony and WordPress (including WooCommerce). If your estate includes something else, send the details and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a fit.
